Around 50,000,000 liters of wastewater are treated daily at the Schönau wastewater treatment plant. A large proportion of the almost completely purified water is then fed into the River Lorze. However, the Schönau WWTP also requires purified water for its operation, which passes through a further filtration stage as process water for internal use at the plant thanks to two BOLLFILTERs.
The purified water is fed into the building technology and used as process water, primarily for the production of biogas in the digestion tower.
Two BOLLFILTERs are in use at the Schönau wastewater treatment plant, which have been technically designed by Matter Hydraulik AG to meet the needs of the plant: aquaBoll® filters in sizes 324 and 356.
Among other things, the BOLLFILTERs are used as police filters in the event that activated carbon particles get through the sand filter.
To protect the plate heat exchanger in the primary heating circuit, the aquaBoll® type 324 is used in the wastewater plant, which filters the wastewater down to 100 µm.
The aquaBoll® type 356 is required for cleaning the process water. Thanks to the filter, a fineness of the process water of 50 µm and less can be guaranteed.
The aquaBoll® automatic filter is specially designed to meet the complex challenges of wastewater treatment plants of different sizes. Filter elements of varying fineness can be implemented depending on the desired degree of filtration. The proven antibacterial FouleX® coating reduces the adhesion of biological particles to the elements. This ensures the maintenance and efficiency of the entire wastewater treatment process at all times.
