Power Plants: Fuel Oil and Lube Oil Systems
Fuel oil filtration for Power Plants
This feed system (hot circuit) transports the fuel from the mixing tank to the engine. The system consists primarily of the supply pumps (redundant), pump protection filters, an automatic filter with a defined filtration rate, a preheating system,
a viscosity control unit, and an engine protection filter.
The fuel is transported via the supply pumps, screened by the pump protection filters, through the automatic filter (fine filtration). The preheating system and viscosity control unit ensure that the temperature and viscosity are correct throughout the entire circulation system. The duplex filter mounted directly in front of the engine serves as a final and decisive safeguard.
The mixing tank is also holding the excess fuel from the engine.
The supply system transports fuel from the service tank to the mixing tank.
The system consists primarily of the supply pumps (redundant), pump protection filters and the automatic filter with a defined filtration rate.
Depending on the application, heavy oil or marine diesel oil is transported via the supply pumps, screened by the pump protection filters, through the automatic filter (fine filtration) to the mixing tank.
The mixing tank is also holding the excess fuel from the engine.
In the lube oil system, the lube oil is transported from the main tank to the engine and consists primarily of the supply pumps (redundant), pump protection filters, an automatic filter with a defined filtration rate, and a lube oil treatment system (optional).
The lube oil is transported via the supply pumps, screened by the pump protection filters, through the automatic filter (fine filtration). The duplex filter mounted directly in front of the engine (optional) serves as a final safety filter.
The pump protection filters, which are equipped with a coarse filter element, are located on the suction side of the supply pumps and protect the redundant pumps in order to guarantee a secure fuel supply.
The engine protection filters as the automatic backflushing filter type 6.72.1 or the automatic backflushing filter type 6.48 are backflushing filters which clean themselves based on an adjustable period of time or by reaching a differential pressure due to the collection of contamination.
